[ This is great. Hunk honestly didn't think Shiro slept- the man was like a machine, arm notwithstanding. ]

[Silly Hunk, everyone sleeps at some point. Or waits. Noctis is fairly convinced that is what Cor and Gladio do half the time instead of sleeping like normal people. Shiro, though? Definitely either asleep or otherwise. It’s hard to hear his breathing over the humming of the engine and other machinery.

That said, Noctis would have done the Thing, but, unfortunately? He passed out himself not long after he sent the second photo.

Yet somehow, another photo sends itself. This time of Noctis asleep with ten tea packages on the side of his head as he lays on his stomach on a neighboring couch.

The tonberry doll is nowhere to be seen.....]

I'm in no place to request this, but understand that it is important: Euphy can't be told the entire truth.

She had been fine up until that point. Whatever it is that nullifies certain powers and abilities also effects what was done to her. As long as that holds true, there's no reason to keep her away from anyone.

So then what happened to Euphy?
Why was she like that in your world?

An accident. That's what happened. There is no "like that" for her. It was done TO her.

Euphemia never wanted to hurt anyone. How do you think she'll take it if you mention that she wanted to kill the Japanese? The last thing she knew was that she was about to establish a small area in which it didn't matter if you were Japanese or Britannian. All were equal and wanted.

As for Kingsley... I don't know much about him myself.

Secrets, Hunk, are kept for a reason. To protect something or someone. While I told her I wouldn't keep anything from her and meant it, she isn't ready to talk about it just yet.

She picked herself up after getting brought to Vaikuntha. She made friends. She can fight monsters now.
And she's your SISTER.

Maybe she's more ready than you think!

But it sounds like you're just protecting yourself. Like you know exactly what "intensely complicated" stuff happened to make Euphy want to hurt people. But you're not telling her.

Why not? Are you saying you know what's in her future, and you're not gonna try to stop it?

You think that I believe her to be weak? It's the opposite, actually. Out of all of my brothers and sisters, she is the only one I don't have a chance against. Euphy is a strong, capable woman. Gentle and kind.

That doesn't mean I want to burden her before she is ready and, believe it or not, I did give her the opportunity. What I think is that she is already distraught by how I came to be here and doesn't want to inquire further.

So what if I do know? It doesn't change that it happened. It can't be stopped, though if there is one thing I wish I could have prevented, that would have been it.

If you know what happens, why can't you just tell her?
Then when we get out of here and she goes back to her time in your dimension, she can fix things.

Unless you actually got here in a block of ice?

This is one of the hardest events in my entire life. I'm not taking it lightly. All I am asking is to not talk to her about it because it's not something she should hear from you. Or anyone outside of myself, really.

[ This was... hard? Really hard. But it honestly deserved more than a text. Logically part of her knows that was a minor disagreement at most. [ She mutters something half to herself, it's difficult to make out but the word "stupid" is in there somewhere. ]

[Several hours after this fiasco]

Hey, uh...hey. This is Gi. I uh...

I wanted to apologize for acting like an idiot and accusing you of things I shouldn't have. I know it doesn't excuse it, I just wanted to say sorry.

[And then there's an awkwardly long silence before the message ends.]

[ If the voicemail has read receipts, Futaba will see that he read it sometime late into the following morning. The reply comes about five minutes later. ]

What are you apologizing for? [ There's a bit of a chuckle. ] They were jerks to you before and that one guy was being a jerk to me.

You stood up for me, and it was pretty cool of you. You didn't have to, and I'm sorry it made you feel bad. [ A chuckle. ] I mean sure things didn't go perfectly but it could've been a lot worse. One of my friends started shouting and stormed out of a meeting of alien diplomats once. It was awkward. This is a lot less stressful. I think?

[ A pause. He's actually thinking about this. ] Nevermind. It's fine. You're a good friend, Futaba. [ Another pause. It's almost like he's doing this as a stream of consciousness. Like he slept in and saw it and freaked out and didn't think about what he was going to say until he was already talking. ] Did I ever tell you about the whole space thing?

[ There's a read receipt the following morning. It's about ten times longer than that awkward pause. ]

Thanks, I appreciate that. No matter what some people think, a lot of us want to figure this stuff out. That includes all of you. You took the job to help us, after all. [ And then there's a few seconds of pause. ]

It's just annoying when it feels like the people we're supposed to be working with are in the way of us getting anywhere. [ A sigh, and a brief moment of pause. ]

Did you hear about the stuff with the Moogles of Light a little while ago?

[ 'You're a good friend, Futaba.'

God okay so she... she didn't mess up? She did good? She... she did good. It looks like. There isn't... any real reason for Hunk to lie to her and even if he did there was sort of... impromptu unrehearsed flow to his words, she thinks. A lot more pauses than usual at least. She did good. She didn't mess up... that much, at least.

Her voice is a bit wobbly with relief when she does reply an hour or so after his initial response. And also maybe the fact that she probably woke up not too long ago herself. ]

Y-yeah. I think so? A little bit at least, when we first got here.

[ He'd tried to show her the observation deck, but there'd been a crowd. He'd mentioned that she'd handled space better than him though? ]

[ Hunk hears that wobble and tone of relief and feels kinda bad. Why was she worried? But he couldn't just ask, that'd be weird. ]

So before we were doing the whole "defenders of the universe" thing, we were kind of a huge mess. [ And then he starts laughing! ]

Two of my friends were constantly at each other's throats, and that never got better. Our ancient magic space elf alien friends thought we were going to doom the entire universe. And my friend Pidge? She and I did not start out on good terms.

[ He's laughing again. Wholly unbothered. ] We've saved entire galaxies and it took a lot of stressful, death-defying ordeals for us to be a well-oiled machine. If the worst we run into here is arguing online, we're set!

[ It's a small miracle he didn't tell her about the bomb that almost killed his best friend. Maybe another time. ]

We're not trying to get in your way, I promise. To be honest, like I said when I introduced myself in that video, I know a lot about Vaikuntha, but the Dream Width is a bit out of my range of knowledge.

['A bit' might be an understatement, really.]

...the Moogles of Light kind of are, too. I heard about what happened, but I wasn't there, so didn't experience it firsthand. Mirabelle says they're from some sort of kids' show.

It is important and I will. When she's receptive. Right now she isn't.

I would have already have told her if not for that.
